Save | CancelĬool Record Edit Pro 8.8.3 reminds me of the old nero 6 suite wave editor (specifically nero wave editor v2) (the way it displays the audio waveforms in green graphs).

I do hope it isn't a sign that this otherwise really good idea is going to fail for a lack of diligence. In short, not ready for prime time, not even ready for alpha. So, since I was already in the testing frame of mind, I tried a shift of 101%, and got an error, an attempt to access location 00000. So pitch shifting or correction of small (but sensible) amounts is just impossible. The stream was at A=438 (a perfectly useless pitch standard, although that is beside the point, and not the fault of the recording process.) I decided to pitch-shift it up to A=440 for the sake of my all-too-pitch-conscious wife.įirst problem: the pitch shift requestor allows only two ways to specify the shift: four named automatic shifts (one with the totally unnecessary title "helium".really, now) and by integer percentage. I tried sectioning the stream by highlighting a section and using save selection as: this worked well. My first major disappointment was when I found that the split-into-two-parts was imaginary. I could drop bookmarks (although I'm sorry to say I can't see any real purpose for them, given the scanty excuse for documentation). I recorded about an hour of streaming audio, no problem.

It downloaded, extracted and installed without a hitch. I gave today's a try because I'm another who was supremely impressed with Cool Edit before it got uber-adobe'd. I haven't tried a GAoTD for a while, more because of difficulties every time GAoTD changes its locking system.
